During the last years, Dresden has developed itself into a leading European location for microelectronics with its 1,200 businesses and about 40,000 employees. From chip manufacturing to the end user products industry covers the complete value chain. In addition to the semiconductor industry companies from the microsystem industry but also mobile communication, software and photovoltaic are located in Dresden. Numerous equipment producers and suppliers are based here. There is a special focus on semiconductor organic materials in Silicon Saxony. Around Dresden are numerous places of interest: The city of porcelain and wine Meißen, baroque castle Moritzburg, sandstone mountains, Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) and many more. And don’t forget: the golden city of Prague, which is reachable within 2 hours. “Elbflorenz” and the near surroundings offer a lot of sport activities, like: cycling, roller skating at the Great Garden, several climbing places in summer and ice skating in winter. Numerous night life locations, restaurants and shopping areas fulfill the attractiveness of Dresden.
